Ok! So it has been terribly long since I updated my poor old tumblr-and I thought with a new print release on the way for Halloween now would be the perfect time to do so!

I will be releasing this special little Sugar Skull bunny into the world as prints on Halloween (that’s only a few days away!) so be sure to check over on my Facebook page: www.facebook.com/sugarsweetdreams or head over to my etsy store to purchase! www.kirbeeart.etsy.com

Hope you like him!

Very excited that my new tattoo made it up onto fuckyeahtattoos:

My four week old tattoo by Mark Lonsdale at Kaleidoscope Tattoo- Bondi, Australia. This is my fourth and biggest tattoo yet and took a bit over 2 hours to complete.
I have wanted to get a key related tattoo for a long time and decided that it was finally time to do it! I love the idea of old keys- how they unlock lost objects, but this key is not lost, tied onto its lock to me it symbolises being able to hold the key to your own life, no matter what comes at you.
Mark Lonsdale at Kaleidoscope Tattoo made my drawing into a perfect tattoo- making it better than I could have ever imagined.

Good Evening Daydreamers,
Introducing my newest illustration, ‘loose lips sink ships’ an illustration in a series that I am currently working on based on old proverbs. This illustration is about secrets told and lost, and the stories behind them.
Her lips are locked shut, only to be opened with a key, while a boat sails safely in the sea of her hair.
I am seeing how far I can go with this current series, and hope that at the end of it I will have enough to make either a small book/magazine or zine! Stay tuned for more!
The print of ‘loose lips sink ships’ is available in my etsy store: www.kirbeeart.etsy.com
Until next time,

Good Evening Daydreamers,
As most of you have probably heard by now, Queensland is now 75% devastated  by severe flooding. After donating this morning, i was left wondering what else i could do. Then when i popped on Facebook this afternoon, the lovely Sophie Hill from That Vintage created a Facebook auction to raise money for the floods. I borrowed Sophie’s idea and i am now auctioning off 6 A4 prints at a starting price of $5.
Please head over to www.facebook.com/sugarsweetdreams and bid away. All the info is there, Australian postage is free, international is a flat rate of $7.
Any questions please feel free to email me at kirbeelawler@yahoo.com and please pass on this image and re-blog until your heart is content! Lets help the poor people of Queensland recover.

Good Afternoon Daydreamers,
I am pleased to introduce my newest illustration to you! This one is called ‘storm in a tearcup’ and has been an idea i have been toying with for the past couple of months. I have always loved the saying ‘a storm in a teacup’ as it brings up so many feelings and ideas. So i thought what better way than to bring this to life in an illustration?
I wanted to start working on some new ideas, and i think this illustration is the start of some more exciting things to come. I worked away on ‘storm in a tearcup’ for nearly a week, which is nearly the most time consuming illustration i have ever done.
I really hope you like her and the meaning/s that can be found within this illustration. I will be listing this as a print in my Etsy store tomorrow, so make sure you check back if you would like to give this illustration a new home. {www.kirbeeart.etsy.com}
Oh! And you can also check out an interview i did here and i have just updated my website {www.kirbee.net}
Until next time,

going away for the weekend…

can make everything better!

Good afternoon Daydreamers,

In my very first photo post, i thought it was time that i started updating my blog a little more often with other things that i do, not just my drawings! So i am going to make an effort to pop more pictures up of other things that you may (hopefully) find interesting!

So first things first, these pictures are from my recent road trip down the coast for the weekend. I stayed in a 1950’s stilt house right on the beach at Bawley Point, about halfway between Ulladulla and Batemans Bay on the south coast of New South Wales.

Here are some of my pictures from the weekend, i love finding old abandoned places and seeing what happens when nature takes over, which is exactly what happened to this old general store/petrol station in Kiola, about five minutes down the road from Bawley Point…

Plus, how amazing is this abandoned Peter’s Ice Cream van that was just behind the General Store? Textured typography? Check! Moss? Check!

And this is the aptly named Pretty Beach, just down the road from Kiola. Pretty Beach is part of the National Park and has a colony of Kangaroos living on the dunes backing onto the beach.

I really do hope to share more of my snapshots of things like this, and hope you enjoyed looking at them! I have a new illustration that i will pop up soon that i worked on while i was away.

Until next time,

xoxo

Kirbee.

Wanderlust

Good Afternoon daydreamers,

Here are some sneak peeks of a commissioned illustration i have just finished. I can’t reveal too much more at the moment, but it was quite fun drawing something a little darker (and i drew it a fair bit bigger than i am used to as well). Before i started drawing cute critters such as Owls and Deer and Squirrels I spent my days drawing skulls and roses and more tattoo inspired images, so it was quite nice to get to draw something like this.

Check back for the full unveil of this new illustration titled ‘Wanderlust’

Good morning Daydreamers,
I have just finished working on my very first animated gif, featuring Miss Florence, my paper doll illustration. You can view the animation here
I have also been working away on getting things organised for 3 up coming exhibitions. These are:
The Curvy Melbourne Launch at Magnation Melbourne, Thursday 25th November (that’s tomorrow!)…
The Curvy @ The Galeries Sydney Exhibition running at The Galeries (I know it as the Galeries Victoria where Kinokuniya is) from November 18-Janurary 9th. I have work up in the SP1 Store at the Galeries…
And the On The Wall Exhibition at the Sydney Finders Keepers Markets at Carriageworks, Everleigh on December 3-4.
I will also be re-stocking my etsy store over the next few days with lots and lots of new prints in time for Christmas! Keep checking here

Good evening Daydreamers!
I have been busily painting (yes! you heard right..painting!) all weekend. I have wanted to work on a custom skateboard deck for quite a while and seeing Andy Jenkins from Girl Skateboards talk recently also inspired me more!
So here is a sneak peek of Home Sweet Home, a handpainted skateboard deck that will go on display at my college graduation exhibition on November 17th in Sydney (here is the link if you want to check it out! www.facebook.com/gardenparty2010 )
More pics on my facebook page: www.facebook.com/sugarsweetdreams under Sneak Peeks!
